The National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) is a comprehensive, 10-year development blueprint launched by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2021, with the ambitious target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2031. It reflects a bold and strategic shift toward inclusive, sustainable development—focusing on economic growth that directly benefits the most vulnerable members of society. The NPRGS is rooted in collaboration, drawing strength from a multi-stakeholder framework that includes the Federal and State Governments, private sector players, development partners, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the diaspora community. Together, these partners are driving impactful reforms, building livelihoods, and promoting access to opportunities across all 36 states and the FCT.
Why NPRGS MattersTo build a sustainable, inclusive, and high‑growth economy in which 100 million Nigerians are lifted out of poverty by 2031, ensuring access to economic opportunity, social services, and shared prosperity across all communities
To accelerate poverty reduction in Nigeria by delivering inclusive economic growth, social protection, and structural reforms through coordinated interventions that empower vulnerable communities, promote job creation, and support entrepreneurship. This mission is executed through multi-sector partnerships, policy alignment, and outcome-driven programs across all states and the FCT
The National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) is explicitly built around a core ambition:To lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within 10 years, spanning from 2021 to 2031. This goal aligns directly with the vision of poverty reduction alongside sustainable growth as part of Nigeria’s longer-term development agenda
